TEMPO Institute rebrands as Digital Built Forum to help champion digital advocacy and capability in the built environment
MEDIA RELEASE: TUESDAT 12TH AUGUST, 2025

TEMPO Institute has announced its rebranding to Digital Built Forum, marking the next phase of the organisations mission to advance digital capability across the Australian and New Zealand built environment.

The momentum behind the digital agenda across our built environment is facing headwinds. Advocacy has slowed, and clear leadership remains elusive. Yet, with a strategic focus and renewed commitment, there is a powerful opportunity to reassert the value of digital through the planning, design, construction, and operation of our cities and supporting infrastructure. The Digital Built Forum has been created as a platform to help meet this challenge, facilitate a clear and consistent narrative and provide leadership in the digital built environment sector.

TEMPO Institute’s existing offerings - podcasts, webinars, training, and its award program - will continue under the new Digital Built Forum brand, aligning seamlessly with the future of digital infrastructure and built environment transformation.

However, the rebrand marks a bold new chapter, with fresh initiatives including in-person events and a flagship leadership forum in Brisbane this November: The SEQ 2032 Digital Assembly.

“Digital should not be treated as just an add-on; it is central to how we deliver, operate, and optimise the built environment," said Gavin Cotterill, Co-Director at Digital Built Forum. “With public investment in digital built transformation continually being challenged, we must step forward to ensure digital is prioritised, understood, and embedded into decision-making processes. This rebrand and our new activities are about creating that unified voice and turning challenges into opportunities.”

The Digital Built Forum’s mission is clear - to position digital enablement as a core driver of economic productivity and sustainability. To achieve this, the organisation is arranging its work under three key action areas:
-
Leadership: Shaping critical policies, standards, and leadership needed for a digitally confident and sustainable future. Through thought leadership and collaboration with government and industry stakeholders, advocacy efforts will ensure digital infrastructure and governance remain central to progress.

-
Capability: Delivering programs and events that act as catalysts for knowledge exchange and progress. These include executive roundtables, technical workshops, and in-person forums, uniting government leaders and practitioners to tackle challenges and design actionable solutions.

-
Community: Building a collaborative network of professionals committed to reshaping infrastructure and technology. The Digital Built Forum will foster meaningful connections through peer learning, working groups, and digital platforms, turning ambition into aligned impact.
On the brand refresh, Adam Beck, Co-Director at Digital Built Forum, said, “As we move into this next chapter, we invite industry and government to join us in redefining how digital shapes our cities and infrastructure. The Digital Built Forum is here to lead, to help unify, and ensure digital innovation is no longer the exception - but the expectation.”
